BISS at Fatigue Durability Conference 2015

BiSS has participated at the exhibition of Fatigue Durability 2015 conference, subjected on the Fatigue, Durability and Fracture Mechanics. The event has been jointly organised by the Institute of Structural Integrity & Failure Studies and India Science Foundation during May 28th-30th 2015 at JRD Tata auditorium complex of Indian Institute of Science Bangalore.

The three day conference and exhibition has hosted a huge number of participants and experts, working in the domain of Fatigue and Fracture, from various industry sectors like Automotive, Aerospace, Academia, Government and Private Research Laboratories etc. in order to exchange critical information related to materials deformation and recent developments in the field.

In this series of knowledge exchange, BiSS has displayed a new compact and unique design of the servo controlled test ‘Nano’ system which serves almost all the requirements of standard materials testing in both static and dynamic loading conditions up to 25 kN.

The concept of “plug ‘n’ play” of the Nano test system has been highly appreciated by visitors from all across the industry sectors. Moreover, it was a special area of interest for the Academia sector as a teaching tool. The participants have received additional information about this test system by interacting with our Product Manager.

Nadcap accredited first test facility in India

Nadcap (formerly NADCAP, the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) is a global cooperative accreditation program for aerospace, defense and related industries.

With companies like Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier and their suppliers expanding operations in India year after year, the scope for testing and validation in these areas is continuously increasing. To be a key player in materials testing in these areas, Nadcap accreditation of the test facilities is a necessary requirement. Nadcap certification demands attention to details, accurate documentation and reliable results.

According to the e-audit report of Performance and Review Institute (PRI), BiSS Labs is the only laboratory in India to have Nadcap accreditation for non metallic materials testing (NMMT). BiSS has sustained the accreditation continuously for three years now, and has been recently elevated to “Merit Status”. Nadcap accreditation of BiSS Labs for metals is underway.

BiSS Labs currently has more than 12 systems (ranging from 5 kN to 2000 kN) dedicated to testing of composites based on non-metallic materials. Apart from Aerospace, composite material characterization under static and dynamic loads is performed round the clock for industries in Energy, Healthcare and Automotive sectors.

First Structural Integrity Conference and Exhibition – SICE -2016

The First Structural Integrity Conference and Exhibition (SICE -2016), held during July 4-6, 2016 at the Hotel Le Meridian, Bangalore, was jointly organized by Indian Structural Integrity Society (InSIS), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and Bangalore Integrated System Solutions (BISS), Bangalore. A pre-conference workshop was also organized during July 2-3, 2016 at IISc and BISS premises at Bangalore. In this workshop, approximately 50 delegates from Academia, R&D and Industries have participated in order to have a live demonstration of Mechanical Testing at BISS Labs like Fracture Toughness, Fatigue, and Thermomechanical Fatigue etc. A series of invited talks have been delivered by reputed international faculty on the theory and practice of Fatigue, Fracture Mechanics, and Failure Analyses during the workshop. Prof. C S Manohar from IISc Bangalore, Dr. S K Bhaumik from National Aerospace Laboratories Bangalore, Dr. K. Satish Kumar & Mr. Sushil Mane from Altair, Prof. Masahiro Endo from Fukuoka University, Japan, and Prof. Ashok Saxena from the University of Arkansas, USA were a few speakers in the workshop.

BISS and Instron have jointly participated in the exhibition during July 4-6, 2016 at the Hotel Le Meridian, Bangalore. In the exhibition, BISS has displayed its low force systems and servo-hydraulic system ‘Nano’. The ‘Nano’ was equipped with the facility to study the surface deformation of the test piece during the course of the test by the scanning with the help of eddy current method. This special arrangement was designed for the non-destructive testing (NDT). Many engineers, professors, researchers and students have visited the stall during the exhibition and have shown their interest in the testing technologies and equipment provided by both BISS and Instron.
