BiSS averaging extensometers are self-supporting type and can be mounted easily on to the specimen. These extensometers are designed for testing compressive strengths on rock, concrete and large compression samples. The output is the average of the two axial strain readings measured on opposite side of the test specimen.
These averaging extensometers can be used for several thousands of tests without damage. Gage lengths from 25 to 100 mm and measuring ranges from 6 to 12.5 mm are available.
